STC OBA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2016
Dear Fellow Thomians,
Greetings from the ‘School by the Sea’!
I am writing to you as Hony. President of our Old Boys’ Association to bring to your attention certain important matters pertaining to the forthcoming 130th Annual General Meeting scheduled to take place on Friday, 12th February 2016 at 6.30 p.m. at the College Hall.
The STC OBA, possibly the oldest school alumni association in the world, has been a mighty bulwark of support to our alma mater since 1886 when Warden E. F. Miller conceived the idea of gathering the fraternity into an Association with the primary objective of strengthening the ties “which should bind a man to the place, where it is hoped, he has learned some of the most valuable lessons of his life”. (Warden Miller to A. C. d’ A. Seneviratne) As has been rightly recorded, “The strength of the School lies in the devotion and loyalty of its Old Boys – a loyalty which it is our pride has been demonstrated again and again in very practical form.” (Centenary Number, 1951)
I look forward very much to welcoming each and every one of you for the AGM and for all the other activities in connection with Old Boys’ week that have been planned for you and trust as many of you as possible would be able to make it.
This year there will be elections at the AGM for some places on the Executive Committee of the OBA including some Office Bearers and Two Representatives of the OBA to the Board of Governors of the College. Please find below the Nominations received for these elections.
