MILINDA HETTIARACHCHI ~ to STC Mount Lavinia and STC at Gurutalawa plus the OLD BOYS ASSOCIATIONS
* Comprehensive Thomian ~ studied at STC from 1959 Form 1B to Coll Science ( GCE A/L ) and thereafter at the Faculty of Business Management @ Aquinas University College Colombo .
* Hails from a 4th generation direct Thomian family link .
* Experienced Professional International Five Star Hotel General Manager in many continents / Countries ~ Fellow of HCIMA , FHCIMA (UK) , Certified Hotel Administrator CHA (Mich/USA) & MBIM (UK) .
* Has served the STCML EXCO for over 34 years and contributed heavily in many Fund Raising Projects and Events as a Committee Member such as Thomian Fairs from 1980s , Thomian Dinner Dances from 1982 . Musical shows , Walkathon , Triathlon , Building Renovation and Development Projects , Beach festivals, Teachers Felicitations , Spirits on Fire exclusive Cocktail & Dinner functions , Drama events , Royal -Thomian Organizing Committee Member (at present too) , Cricket Development Fund raising and personal assistance .
Active fund raising continues and itemizing all of them for 34 years is space consuming - hence the brief summary .
* Accommodated free of charge many STCML Sports Teams from the 1980s at the request of Warden Neville De Alwis at the Renaissance Colombo Gym , till the College Gym was built ~ commended in writing by Warden De Alwis repeatedly .
*A staunch supporter present at most Thomian Cricket matches from 1959 and Sports events and further supporting young students beyond education & sports in placements .
* Former resourceful Committee member of the PTA Fund Raising Events , Musical Extravaganzas , Building Fund Raisers , Sports Events etc
* A productive member of the planning and resurrection of STC @ Gurutalawa with mega fund raising for the development of the school buildings , infra structure facilities and welfare , invited by the Gurutalawa OBA , during the tenure of Head Master Rev Marc Bilimoria in the recent past . The fund raising still continues .
* Reunited STCML & Guru recently after years of isolation , being one and the same College established by Warden De Saram and facilitated a Gurutalawa Day at STCML annually ~ re-living the Dr Hayman spirit.
* Elected Hony Sec STC OBA @ Gurutalawa (invited uncontested as a non Gurutalawa Old Boy )
* Raising funds for STCML , Bandarawela , Guu & Prep in the past via overseas OBA members .
* Academic Council Board Member & Academic Director at the University Grants Commission approved Degree awarding Aquinas University College Colombo offering tertiary higher education - helpful input to College .
* Original batch & pioneer member of the Big Match Thomian Colts & Stallions (ex Stallions Organizing Committee member ) .
* A Founder Member of the Thomian Society of Colombo .
* Quentin Israel ~ QI '69 > Rugby Development Fund Raising Organizing Committee member , which commenced in 2014 .
* Has ample time to devote to College , having retired from National and International Five Star Hotel General Manager assignments .
* * IN RETROSPECT : My maternal grand father late Simon Abeywickrama of the Canon De Saram vintage , as a Hon Member of the State Council of Ceylon and Chairman of the Dehiwela - Mt Lavinia Urban Development Council (MC) got the present invaluable De Saram Road constructed via the State and declared it open in the 1940s saying that " the road is aptly named after Warden De Saram , because like the Warden it was also dead straight.
